SAAS Summit: Civic Engagement & Social Entrepreneurship, the second edition of a multi-modal experience – part forum, think tank, laboratory and networking experience all in one setting on the Seattle Academy (SAAS) campus. This is a free event and open to the public.

“The Work Won’t Wait – Forging Coalitions for Positive Change.” The Summit will spotlight leaders who are using their entrepreneurial and collaborative skills across private, public and non-profit sectors as catalysts for effective action in the face of difficult problems. Panels will tackle topics in areas ranging from the future of public service to the justice system, climate to conservation, education to health care, and public private partnerships to community organizing.

Civic Engagement is a SAAS value and commitment, and is a specific area of focus within the theme of “The Work Won’t Wait.” We believe a healthy democracy is fundamental to addressing our problems, and the health of our democracy is being challenged on multiple levels.

Our goal: an informed electorate, inclusive democracy and cohesive community. Current prospective 6th grade students will be eligible to vote for the first time in the year 2032. In the May SAAS Summit, we’ll explore what it will take to reach that goal by 2032, and what actions we can take to that end now.
